Balancing a radiator is a crucial process to ensure even heat distribution across your heating system. Follow these detailed steps to balance your cast iron radiator:
- Turn Off the Heating System
Begin by turning off your central heating system. This ensures safety and allows you to work on the radiators without hot water circulating.
- Identify the Flow and Return Valves
Locate the flow and return valves on your radiator. The flow valve is typically on the left, and the return valve is on the right. The flow valve controls the inflow of hot water, while the return valve controls the outflow.
- Open All Radiators
Fully open all the radiator valves in your system. This ensures an initial even flow of water.
- Set Thermostatic Radiator Valves (TRVs)
If your system has TRVs, set them to the desired temperature in each room. This allows automatic adjustments based on individual room needs.
- Balance the First Radiator
